Life just isn't going the way I want it to lately. Luckily, games are ever consistent and I get to go beat some cute pinatas to death now on my XB360. Hurray for small pleasures.

Due to popular demand, here's a picture of that mysteriously delicious ramen I was talking about in my previous entry. It's not a picture of my specific bowl, it's Karen's (from her flickr) and each bowl is unique -- you can choose basically every aspect that goes into the ramen to fit your tastes. My preferences? Very rich soup flavor, medium oiliness, strong green onions, pork cutlets, no spiciness, medium to hard noodles, and 1/2 clove of garlic (or more -- I loves me some garlic).

God, just talking about it while looking at this picture makes me profoundly sad it'll be a long time until I have this ramen again. Seriously, what's up with the lack of delicious ramen joints in SF? The only ramen place that even comes close is all the way in LA. Scandalous. =(

And whoa, if you want Ramen Hole pics, check out Jeremy's flickr. It's where I got this hilarious picture of me trying to make an "oOooo" face at my bowl (and failing, btw).

I hope the vidjagames-gods don't smite me for saying this, but the best part of being in Japan is probably the food. But, on occasion, you come across things that look inedible, either because they're too exotic (which is hard because I'm Chinese and used to eating weird foods), weird spins on American cuisine, or just plain too cute to bite. Exhibit A: Chou Patti's display by the register.

Their non-cute matcha (green tea) cream-puffs were, you guessed it, delicious though. Too bad the paper bottom stuck to the cream-puff, making it pretty inconvenient to finish off. You better believe we all ripped the shit out of that paper cup. What gives Chou Patti? Paper is not yum yum delish.

Speaking of shenanigans, I found out a secret. Rather than keep this burden to myself, I will let you all in on it: Matt unleashes his devilish side when he's in Japan. Something about the air makes him go loco in the roco. (He even ate sushi -- whoa!)

Take the poor, innocent, sleeping man on the train ride back to Makuhari from Shibuya, who happened to be swaying from side to side, with his head getting dangerously close to the metal side bar. After spending most of the ride making funny gestures at the unaware target (and trying to take bets on whether he'd konk his head or not), Matt finally shows some compassion, and exhibits some brotherly support...I think. Could just be more making fun. (Yep.)

But it's not like making fools of ourselves in public by acting like obnoxious foreigners was the biggest mistake I took part in. Oh no, I made the ill-fated choice of standing in line with Jeremy while he purchased his white slim PSP...and the line went right by the PSP display shelf. For those in the know, you know my weakness for all things purple. That Lavender PSP is practically screaming at me to buy it. Note to manufacturers: Want my money? Make it purple. (Similar note to game publishers: Want my money? Making little boy sopranos sing operatic themes in the trailer is a nice start. I'm looking at you Ace Combat 6.)

For Jeremy and many others, I'm sure buying a PSP makes sense. Sadly, I haven't got a clue as to what I'd want to play on the thing. And my checking account is definitely not thanking me for this one. Due to my indecisive nature and impulsive buying habits (and devious encouragement from one Sam Kennedy), I walked away with this:

Well, at least it looks good. My only complaint is that it's a little too shiny -- it has tiny sparkles in the paint, so under certain lighting conditions it looks more like a dirty white than a lovely shade of purple. I'd have preferred a solid color.

So now the task falls to you all -- what games should I get for my purple portable so I feel less regretful? I was thinking of Brave Story for starters. I've heard good things (very good things) about FF Tactics, but I've always sucked pretty bad at tactics games. Hmm...Suggestions?

And sorry to disappoint Cho-bot fans, but I will not be licking my new PSP slim in any way, shape, or form; though I did think about biting it...you know, for kicks (and I was hungry).
